This is my third year running the Run to Home Base and I wouldn't miss this race for the world. The satisfaction of knowing that all our fundraising efforts are helping struggling veterans recover from combat stress and traumatic brain injuries while serving our country will make make me come back every year while I am still able to run or walk.
If you join the BoSox Club team and register by April 20th, you will receive a special BoSox Club/Run to Home Base baseball cap, appear in a BoSox Club team photo and get recognition on the BoSox Club web-site. The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program serves New England by identifying, motivating, and clinically treating wounded service members and veterans with combat stress and traumatic brain injury and their families. The Home Base Program serves the nation as a model for private-public collaborations as an educational resource about the invisible wounds of war that now effect an estimated 30 percent of those who served or are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. We are also working on the development of new treatments or post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
